Could you think of anything scarier than a doll that has been possessed by a spirit? Currently residing in East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida, US this hunted doll is known as Robert. It was once owned by a painter and Author in the Key West area named Robert Eugene Otto who has blamed the doll for his childhood trauma and misfortune. Allegedly this doll has been evocative to the residents of Key West for more than 100 years. The doll’s careworn face is only vaguely human. He has brown nicks, like scars all over his body.

Facts about Robert The Evil Doll

  • Having a malevolent smirk, the doll holds his own toy, a dog. Looking at him, one could get the feel of seeing a small boy sitting with his toy asking you to free him from his cage.
  • The doll is acknowledged to be the inspiration for the famous haunted doll Chucky from the movie Child’s Play (1998).
  • Legends suggest this evil doll comprises the ability to move from one place to another as well as change its facial expressions. Some people have also said that the doll makes giggling sounds.
  • In the accounts related to the doll, it is said that the doll was manufactured by the Steiff Company of Germany.
  • The hunted doll was a gift to young Robert by his grandfather who purchased it during a trip to Germany in the year 1904. Robert brought the doll everywhere with him and named it after himself.
  • According to one of the legends, the doll was given to Otto as a gift or as retaliation for wrongdoing by a young girl of “Bahamian descent”.
  • The outfit worn by Robert the Doll is said to be one of the outfits of young Otto.
