  • Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

Diagnosing the Virus

If you believe you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, you are supposed to contact your doctor immediately. Before going to the doctor’s office, call in to let them know your concerns and follow the instructions provided. Your prior intimation to the doctor will allow them to collect details and offer you supervision on the next steps. To make a diagnosis, your doctor may run tests to figure if it is other common infections. In some cases, your doctor may suggest you self-isolate to avoid the spread of infection.

Cure

There is currently no vaccine or treatment offered for COVID-19. Signs of the disease are to be treated with rest and fluids. People who are extremely sick get care in a hospital with breathing help, IV fluids, and other treatments. Antibiotics can’t treat viruses so they won’t help in this matter. Moreover, medicines for the flu don’t work either as coronavirus is different from the flu virus.

Doctors and scientists are working to make treatment and vaccines for coronavirus, but this will take time.

Update as of March 18: America has created a trial vaccine for the Pandemic, which has to be tested on humans. The trial is taking place at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle.
Neal Browning is the first among other 45 healthy individuals to volunteer for a coronavirus vaccine trial in Washington State.
The testing is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. It was started on 16 March 2020 and is expected to last for six weeks.
